How does Confirmation of Payee work?

When you make a payment using a BSB and account number for the first time, set up a new payee, or update an existing payee’s details in your online banking, the system will automatically run a Confirmation of Payee check. This compares the details you entered with the information held by the recipient’s bank and will tell you if it’s a match, a close match, or not a match. 

These results give you greater confidence that your payment is being sent where you intend it to and helps guide your next steps before proceeding.
