What is a one-time-passcode (OTP)?

Jasmine Shillington Updated by Jasmine Shillington

A one-term-passcode (OTP) is a secondary authentication process which is used to confirm your identity and help keep your accounts and information secure. Generally we'll provide an OTP when you are doing certain transactions or updating your details via digital banking. You have the option to receive your OTP via SMS or email. Each OTP is valid for a limited period of time and can only be used once.

You must never provide an OTP to another person, including someone claiming to be from Australian Military Bank. If you do, you may be liable for losses.

We do not charge to receive OTPs by SMS. We also do not send SMSs to non-Australian mobile numbers.

If you receive an OTP that you didn't request, please call us on 1300 13 23 28.

Travelling overseas

You can receive OTPs to your Australian mobile phone number even when you are travelling overseas. Please contact your mobile service provider for any charges you may incur for receiving SMSs while overseas.
